Ed Levine over at www.seriouseats.com is compiling a meatball registry, I discovered this morning. It had just occurred to us a couple of days ago that we are in the midst of a meatball renaissance here in St. Louis, and this fits right in. Thus our beginning The Great St. Louis Meatball List:

Anthonino’s Taverna—huge, moist, full of flavor. We will have a review of Anthonino’s coming up soon, hopefully in the next week. 2225 Macklind Ave, The Hill, 314-773-4455

Curry In a Hurry—the kefte, the paneer-based un-meat balls in a creamy gravy are a delight, light and full of flavor, not searingly hot, utterly charming. See our review  here.612 Olive St., Downtown, 314-241-7900, www.islandcafestl.com

Pueblo Solis—a full review of P. Solis will be posted  here tomorrow, but sufficient to say now that the albondigas, available as a special, are excellent. 5127 Hampton Ave., 314-351-9000

Tenth Street Italian—Atsa spicy meatball indeed, served on their chewy ciabatta. A wonderful sandwich. Weekdays only, closing at 8 p.m. 504 N. 10th St., Downtown, 314-241-9988
