He'd rather go hunting than make love with his wife. That's Erik (Joachim Rafaelsen), who thinks that Kaja (Agnes Kittelsen) isn't attractive enough to excite him these days. He's not involved with another woman; he simply prefers to be with his buddies. And the movie, which opens today, is entitled, "Happy Happy" and billed as a comedy. Norwegian humor can be very strange.
Things change a little when Sigve (unrelated Henrik Rafaelsen) and Elisabeth (Maibritt Saarens) move next door. They're from Copenhagen, and they've moved to the country village to rebuild their marriage, struggling since Elisabeth admitted having an affair with another man.
And so it goes. The two couples, thrown together by proximity, are forced to interact, and they do. The results are interesting and sometimes confusing, and while "Happy Happy" is mostly a good movie, with some fine acting, it just cannot be described as funny. Or funny funny.
